Mildred Dodd

Mildred Glenn Dodd, 93, of Fairmont, passed away Friday (Aug. 18, 2006) at Fairmont General Hospital.

She was born Nov. 15, 1912, in Elkins, the daughter of the late Forrest Virgil Trickett Sr. and Margaret Glenn.

Mrs. Dodd was a retired children’s librarian from the Marion County Public Library. She was formerly employed by the Girl Scouts of America and was a loving and caring mother.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fairmont where she was a Sunday School teacher and member of the Women’s Circle Group.

She graduated from Elkins High School and attended Davis & Elkins College.

Mrs. Dodd was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Fairmont, Master Gardeners of Marion County, and a local travel club.

She was an avid gardener and bird watcher.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Marshall and Zelma Dodd of New Jersey, and Bradley and Donna Dodd of Fairmont; one daughter, Vicki Lynne Hawkins of Walkertown; one sister, Margaret McLaughlin of Elkins; five grandchildren, Marla Berling, Marchelle McAnney, Murray Dodd, all of New Jersey, Penny Herdman Hollandsworth of Barrackville, and Chevee Tyler Dodd of Fairmont; seven great-grandchildren, Erik Berling, Danielle McAnney, Cassidy McAnney, Erin McAnney, all of New Jersey, Alexandrea Elaine Herdman of Barrackville, Shannon McAnney of New Jersey, and Aleena Dodd of Fairmont.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dodd was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Victor Dodd on July 5, 1966; two brothers, Richard Trickett and Forrest V. Trickett Jr.; and a sister, Geraldine Trickett.

Friends may call from noon-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont. The casket will lie in state from 1-2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church, 901 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the church with Pastor Rick Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Westover.
