Rose Tate

Rose Arco Tate, 78, formerly of Shinnston, passed away at the home of her daughter in Palm City, Fla., on Monday (Oct. 2, 2006).

She was born Feb. 22, 1928, in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late Sam and Agnes Levato Arco.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tate was also preceded in death by her husband, Albert Tate, whom she married on Oct. 22, 1949.

She is survived by her daughter, Connie Marie Guido of Palm City, Fla.; five grandchildren, John Michael and Christopher Guido, Albert Patrick Tate and his wife Melissa, Matthew Tate and his wife April, and Frank S. Tate II and his wife Justina; three great-grandchildren, Dominic, Vincent, and Alec Tate; two brothers, John and wife Mary Arco, and Sam and wife Mickey Arco, all of Shinnston; one sister, Katherine and her husband Frank Pulice Jr. of Fairmont; two daughters-in-law, Debbie Tate and Clista Radcliff; and a large number of nieces and nephews, whom she adored.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Tate was preceded in death by her son, Frank Tate; two sisters, Mary Jane Guarascio and her husband Tony, and Constance Louise Arco; and a great-grandchild, Albert James Tate.

Mrs. Tate was a graduate of Shinnston High School.

She was a past member of the St. Ann's Catholic Church of Shinnston and a member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church of Palm City, Fla.

She was also a member of the Sons of Italy.

Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, Shinnston, from noon-8 p.m. Friday. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Ann's Catholic Church, Shinnston, with the Rev. Karl Wohinc as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery Mausoleum.
