Mildred V. Pyles

Mildred V. Pyles, 86, of Fairmont (Chesapeake Community), passed from this life Tuesday (Oct. 9, 2012) in the home of her granddaughter and caregiver, Brenda Miller, under Hospice Care.

She was born in Fairmont on Oct. 31, 1925, a daughter of the late Oscar and Gertrude Gregory Radcliff.

Granny was an active member of the Miracle Revival Center for 20 years and served as an usher and sang in the choir. She formerly worked as a cashier and sales clerk at the Gee Bee Department Store and retired from there in 1989.

She enjoyed her volunteer work with her great-grandchildren for 4-H activities with the Busy Bison 4-H Club. She also enjoyed playing cards, going for car rides and especially spending time with her family. She stayed active for as long as she could and was known for taking the kids out and cleaning sections of highway.

Mrs. Pyles is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and Thomas Willard of Fairmont; her son and daughter-in-law, Earl and Kathy Pyles of Fairmont; six grandchildren, Tom Willard Jr., Melissa (Roger) Suter, Kim Willard, Brenda (James) Miller, Todd (Tammy) Pyles and Malinda (Harry) Davis; 11 great-grandchildren, B.J. Miller, Brandon, Kayla and Jacob Willard, Crystal and Matthew Pyles, Lindsey, Macy and Riley Suter, Andrew and Zach Davis; also several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Byron Wayne Pyles on Nov. 11, 2000; also four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Marie and Joe Behanna, Edna and Earl Foreman, Leona and George Smith, and an infant sister.

Mildred’s family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care, 1406 Country Club Road, Fairmont, WV 26554.

Friends may call at the Frey Home For Funerals (Historic Chapel), 320 Madison St., Fairmont, on Friday from 1-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with Chaplain Matthew Chapell officiating.   • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
