Dennis Perkins

Dennis Leroy Perkins, 66, of Grant Town, passed from this life Sunday (Sept. 29, 2013) at Fairmont General Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.

He was born in Fairmont on Aug. 16, 1947, a son of the late Thomas Ray and Lillie Ellen Carpenter Perkins.

Dennis was a Christian by faith. He had formerly worked as a coal miner and then a construction worker. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding horses and having a good time, especially with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Judith Yeager Perkins; his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Scott and Jeri Perkins, his primary caregivers at home, of Grant Town; his daughter and son-in-law, Denise Ellen and Larry Tichnell of Rivesville; his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas Jr. and Linda Perkins of Grant Town; and his grandchildren, Tabatha and Derek McGlone.

A special “thank you” to Dr. Eugene Menez and his staff, and the nurses on 3B at Fairmont General Hospital.

Mr. Perkins had chosen direct cremation with no services as his method of disposition. He will be buried in the Perkins family cemetery.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
