Dennis Leroy Perkins, 66, of Grant Town, passed from this life Sunday (Sept. 29, 2013) at Fairmont General Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born in Fairmont on Aug. 16, 1947, a son of the late Thomas Ray and Lillie Ellen Carpenter Perkins.
Dennis was a Christian by faith. He had formerly worked as a coal miner and then a construction worker. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding horses and having a good time, especially with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Judith Yeager Perkins; his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Scott and Jeri Perkins, his primary caregivers at home, of Grant Town; his daughter and son-in-law, Denise Ellen and Larry Tichnell of Rivesville; his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas Jr. and Linda Perkins of Grant Town; and his grandchildren, Tabatha and Derek McGlone.
A special “thank you” to Dr. Eugene Menez and his staff, and the nurses on 3B at Fairmont General Hospital.
Mr. Perkins had chosen direct cremation with no services as his method of disposition. He will be buried in the Perkins family cemetery.
