Ruth Booth

Ruth Evelyn Booth, 92, a resident of St. Barbara’s in Monongah, and formerly of Roosevelt Street, Shinnston, passed away at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 23, 2013) at Fairmont General Hospital.

She was born in Clarksburg on Oct. 26, 1921, a daughter of the late Lloyd Herbert and Susan Naomi McGibbon Postlewait Poling.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen E. Booth, who passed away in 1993.

Surviving are one daughter, Anita Ruth Sandy and her husband James “Bud,” Enterprise; four sons, Wayne Jenkins and his wife Beverly, North Carolina, Carl Jenkins and his wife Linda, Grafton, Ronnie Jenkins and his wife Julie, Texas, and Charles Jenkins, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  

She was also preceded in death by one son, Lloyd Edward “Butch” Jenkins; one daughter, Phyllis Marion Stahl; and one brother, Russell Glen Poling.  

Ruth enjoyed working puzzle books and visiting with the residents of St. Barbara’s. She was a member of St. James Evangelical Church and Family Life Fellowship of Enterprise.  

The family would like to thank the staff of St. Barbara’s Nursing Home for their loving care of Ruth over the past seven years.

Friends may call at Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with Pastor Chad Hutson officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Fairmont.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
