Carmen Joseph Casuccio, 85, of Barrackville, passed away Friday (April 26, 2013) at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Diana Casuccio, with his loving family at his side.
He was born Jan. 4, 1928, in Chiefton, son of the late Alexander and Mary Feranti Casuccio.
Carmen was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church and was a former member of All Saints Catholic Church in Barrackville, where he served in many capacities. He was a member of the VFW and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council 942 Fairmont, and a former member of the Barrackville Volunteer Fire Department. Carmen also enjoyed hunting, gardening and planting beautiful flowers for his wife, being with family and telling them tall tales. He was a helping hand to the community. He retired from Owens-Illinois where he worked for 40 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Pontorero Casuccio; one son, Raymond J. Casuccio and wife Diana of Barrackville; four grandchildren, Domenick of Richmond, Va., Larry and wife Lisa of Barrackville, Cory and future wife Cari of Barrackville, and Ethan Casuccio of Barrackville; and two great-grandsons, Roman Anthony and Domenick Michael, who were his pride and joy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Angelo Casuccio; and four sisters, Carmella Bilotta, Rose Nicoletti, Tressa Catania and Genevieve Mazza.
The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave., Fairmont, from 2-8 pm. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church at 1 p.m. with Father Robert Perriello as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Vigil service will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Full military rites will be conducted at graveside.
