Joseph Thomas Sullivan, 89, of Rivesville, passed away Monday afternoon (April 29, 2013).
He was born June 13, 1923, in Newark, N.J., son of the late Joseph D. and Margaret Fleming Sullivan. Mr. Sullivan retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service. He served in Word War II and the Korean War. He truly was an avid baseball fan. He was well loved by his family and friends and was a lifelong learner.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Louise Sullivan of Clarksburg; five children and grandchildren, Joseph F. Sullivan and wife Jane Bunker of Evanston, Ill., Thomas D. and wife Lisa Beardsley Sullivan and their children Emma and Jacob of Stratford, Conn., Catherine Sullivan DeCarlo and husband John DeCarlo and their son Evan of Branford, Conn., Stephen F. Sullivan of Seymour, Conn., and Patricia Suzanne Sullivan and her fiancé James Seitz of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a brother, Frank Sullivan of North Arlington, N.J.; and his brother-in-law, Thomas Ferry and his wife Shirley of Salem.
Mr. Sullivan has chosen cremation services. The Sullivan family will greet friends from 10:30 a.m. to noon Thursday at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 2nd and Jasper streets, Rivesville. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home at noon Thursday. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Rivesville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 431, Rivesville, WV 26558.
