Bernice May (Spicer) Vincent Brandon, 89, of Fairmont, passed away peacefully Thursday (May 9, 2013) at Pierpont Center at Fairmont.
She was born in Narrows, Va., on March 8, 1924, a daughter of the late Harvey and Rose (Martin) Spicer.
Bernice was a loving homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Rock Alter Church in Grafton.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Kimberly Prendergast Mezzanotte of Martinsburg, Dawn A. Prendergast Owens and her husband Robert of South Lake, Texas, Janelle Vincent of Olmsted Falls, Ohio, and David Vincent and his wife Sherry of Lexington, N.C.; six great-grandchildren, Nicholas Mezzanotte, Molly Owens, Caitlin Owens, Conner Owens, Jaela Vincent and Erik Vincent; one great-great-grandchild, Katie; and her sister, Nora Batteiger of Fairmont.
Also surviving are two nephews, Kerry Moore and his wife Susie, and Kevin Moore and his wife Kelley; and her close friends and caregivers, Gary Miller and his wife Rhoda of Fairmont, and Jeff Miller of Fairmont.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Virgil Vincent; her second husband, Robert Brandon; a son, John David Vincent; a daughter, Barbara “Bobbie” (Vincent) Prendergast; three brothers, Jim Spicer, Cower Spicer and Guy Spicer; and a sister, Mabel Spicer.
Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, from 2-8 p.m. Sunday and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Wednesday with Pastor William Stutler officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
