John P. Carson, 77, passed away Saturday (Nov. 23, 2013) in Fort Worth, Texas.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Trinity Episcopal Church in Fort Worth. Burial will take place at 4 p.m. Friday at Granbury Cemetery in Granbury, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fort Worth Opera.
Mr. Carson was born Aug. 20, 1936, in Fort Worth, Texas, to George Harold Carson and Mary Ruth Redding Carson. He married Leta Nelle Thomason on June 17, 1967, in Granbury, and she preceded him in death on May 17, 1999.
John graduated from Fort Worth North Side High School and Texas Christian University where he received his B.A. and master’s degrees. He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. He was active with the Fort Worth Opera Guild and served on its board. John also supported the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra.
Survivors include his son, Phillip Carson and wife Julie; grandchildren, Natalie Rose Carson and Thomason Joseph Carson; sister, Jackie Blackburn; sister-in-law, Mary Strain; and numerous nieces and nephews.
