Margie Given

Margie Sue Given, 71, of Mt. Harmony Community, Fairmont, passed away Monday (March 18, 2013) at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

She was born in the old emergency hospital in Fairmont on March 7, 1942, a daughter of the late Wayne and Marjorie J. (Ledsome) Musgrave.

Sue was a loving homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She previously worked at the Marion County Senior Citizens Center where she delivered Meals on Wheels and also at Gabriel Brothers Department Store.

She attended Mt. Nebo Church of Christ. She enjoyed tending to flowers, canning, sewing, cooking and spending time with her loving grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years in September, Glenn Patrick Given of Fairmont; her five children and their spouses, Kathy Tucker and her husband Robert of Rivesville, Randy Given and his wife Kimberly of Fairmont, Joyce Hays and her husband Joseph of Spotsylvania, Va., Patrick Given and his wife Rayna of Clarksburg, and Connie Carpenter and her husband John of Fairmont; nine grandchildren, Christopher Hardesty, Dustin Hardesty, Kayla Hays, Jennifer Given, John Carpenter II, Angela Hays, McKenzie Given, Tyler Carpenter and Dillon Given; and one great-granddaughter.

Also surviving is her sister, Nancy Scarzenski of Rivesville; and five brothers-in-law, Carlon Given and his wife Myrtle of Ohio, Olen Given of Ohio, Kenny Given and his wife Ruth of Idaho, Donald Given and his wife Linda of Idaho, and Orville Given and his wife Shirley of Virginia; a sister-in-law, Eva Fay Leeson of Fairmont; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward W. Musgrave in infancy and Bernard Joe Musgrave; her stepmother, Beatrice Musgrave; her mother-in-law, Ona J. Given; her father-in-law, Garrett Franklin Given; two brothers-in-law, Henry Given and John Given; a sister-in-law, Olive Tackett; and a niece, Gloria Jean Weekley.

Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday with Pastor Cam Pyle officiating, assisted by Evangelist Norman Floyd. Interment will follow at Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Mt. Harmony Community, Fairmont.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Mt. Nebo Church of Christ, RR 6, Box 321, Fairmont, WV 26554.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
