Doris Grebouski

Doris Faye Mason Grebouski, 76, of Fairmont and formerly of Metz, died Thursday (March 20, 2014) in her home surrounded by family.

Until her death she was a breast cancer survivor.

She was born Jan. 11, 1938, in Baxter, the daughter of the late Harry Harold Mason and Edna Wilson Mason of Fairview. Her grandparents were Lewis and Cora Haught Mason, Harry and Nettie Morris Wilson.

Doris was valedictorian at Fairview High School in 1955 and graduated from Fairmont General Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. She worked at Fairmont Clinic and Fairmont General Hospital as an RN. Since 1973, she had been a full-time homemaker and mother. She also received a certificate from Fairmont’s A-1 driving school.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and recently attended St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. She was involved in the 4-H club for 30 years, being assistant leader of the Metz 4-H Club, attending 4-H camp for several years, 4-H foundation and was a 4-H all star. She was active for 15 years in Project Graduation, serving as a chaperone, fund raiser and donation collector. She was the 2008 Marion County Belle at the WVA Folk Festival, and was a member of the singing Bible study group in Mannington. She enjoyed being a “cancer survivor of the year “ in 2012. She was a poll worker for several years, and donated more than 3 gallons of blood. Her favorite pastimes were eating, laughing and singing, and spending time with her No. 1 caregiver Barrett.

In 1973, she married Joseph Grebouski, who survives her. Also surviving are her two children: son, Jonathan Eric Mason and wife Cindy of Chambersburg, Pa., and her daughter, Jody Edna Bilotta and husband Chad of Fairmont. She was proud that both her children were college graduates. She leaves two very special grandsons, James Aleric Mason and Barrett Jace Bilotta. She has three brothers, Harry Mason and wife Laura, Thomas Mason and wife Maxine, and David Mason and wife Donna; one sister and dear friend, Dolores Mason Love; one uncle, Herbert Mason; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by three stepdaughters, JoAnna Harris, Charlene Collins and Faith Ann Haught and their families.

Friends and family may call at Masters Funeral Home from 2-8 p.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday with Reverend Judd Ashcraft officiating. Burial will follow at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice, especially Courtnie McKnight, RN.
