Dave Fast

David Henry “Dave” Fast, 82, of Boothsville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday (March 26, 2014) at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.

He was born in Fairmont on Dec. 27, 1931, a son of the late David V. and Audra Daisy (Dixon) Fast.

Dave proudly served his country with the U.S. Army. He was a carpenter and construction worker by trade, retiring from the Carpenters Union 476. He was a member of Boothsville United Methodist Church and a member of the Carpenters Union 476. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and most especially spending time with his loving family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Deloris (DeVault) Fast of Boothsville; two sons, Thomas Henry Fast and his wife June, and Jeffrey Allen Fast and his wife Crystal; two daughters, Deborah “Debbie” Ann Boblett and her husband Thomas, and Cindy Ann Staud and her husband Wesley, all of Fairmont; five grandchildren, Stephanie Jordan and her husband Mitchell, Jody Boblett and his wife Jessica, Amber Watt and her husband Zachary, Ashley Brandfass and her husband Adam, and Alesa Staud; and eight great-grandchildren, Deaglan, Stas, Ellie, Jada, Jaxson, Josiah, Jolon and Josephine and was joyfully anticipating the arrival of another.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John Scott Fast, Hugh Fast and Frank “Beaver” Fast; and four sisters, Mazie Mundell, Kathleen Gordon, Myrtle L. Fast and Thelma R. Fast.

Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, from 1-8 p.m. Friday and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Mike Richards officiating. Flag-folding honors will be conducted at the funeral home by the Marion County Veterans Council Honor Guard. Interment will follow at Samuel Linn Cemetery in Benton’s Ferry, Fairmont.

The family would like to thank Dr. Karen MacKay and staff at the Dialysis Center in Fairmont for all their wonderful care and compassion for David.
