Bernice Campbell passed peacefully from this life Thursday (Aug. 22, 2013).
She was born in Fairmont to the late Randle Campbell and Hattie Campbell Sistrunk, and lived there for many years. In 1986, after raising her five sons and a daughter, Bernice moved to Baltimore, Md., where she lived the remainder of her life.
Bernice was baptized at Morning Star Baptist Church. She was a faithful member before moving to Baltimore. In Baltimore, she became a devoted member of Bethel AME Church, under the stewardship of Pastor Reid III.
Preceding her in death were two sisters, Mamie Campbell Gaque and Dorothy Campbell James of Baltimore, Md.; and two brothers, Arthur Campbell of Wilmington, Del., and Randy Campbell of Fairmont.
She leaves to cherish her memories: six children, Rita Campbell Farr (Raymond) of Atlanta, Ga., Clifton Lee Campbell (Sharon) of College Park, Ga., Clifford Leroy “Levi” Campbell of Snellville, Ga., William Campbell (Ruby) of Alexandria, Ga., Ken Campbell (Antonette) of Loganville, Ga., and Franklin Campbell of Decatur, Ga.; siblings, Earline Tate of Osage, Albert Campbell of Youngstown, Ohio, Robert Campbell of Selma, Ala., Bertha Campbell Sistrunk of Baltimore, Md., Deloris Sistrunk Kelly of Baltimore, Md., Raymond Campbell of Youngstown, Ohio, and Louise Sistrunk of Fairmont; grandchildren, Syreeta Campbell of Baltimore, Md., Erika Campbell Hughes of Lawrenceville, Ga., Natasha Campbell of Roanoke, Va., and Janay Campbell, Cameron Campbell and Jacquan Johnson of Alexandria, Va.; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Morning Star Baptist Church, 100 McKinney St., Fairmont. Funeral services will be held in the church at 1 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Wesley Q. Dobbs officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
