Bonnetta Joyce (Vincent) Johnson Culp, 88, of Fairmont, passed away Thursday (Sept. 5, 2013) at her home following a long, courageous battle with leukemia.
She was born in Marion County on Nov. 16, 1924, a daughter of the late Denzil and Gertie (Carpenter) Vincent.
Bonnetta was a loving homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked for many years at Hartley’s Department Store in the gift-wrapping department. She was a faithful member of Gateway United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of East Fairmont High School. She enjoyed gardening and especially loved and enjoyed her granddaughters and great-grandson.
She is survived by her daughter, Robin Haldeman and her husband James of Fairmont; two very special granddaughters, Heather Hayhurst and her husband Jeremy, and Holly Haldeman; a great-grandson, Parker Hayhurst; her sister, Lena Tucker; her niece, Anna Lee Strawn; and two nephews and their spouses, Johnny and Earlene Vincent, and David and Linda Vincent, all of Fairmont.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Claude Darrell “Bud” Johnson in 1964; her second husband, Ira L. Culp in 1995; her brother, John Lee “Bud” Vincent Sr.; and her brother-in-law, Kenneth Tucker.
Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, on Sunday from 1-8 p.m. and Monday 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Mayfield officiating. Interment services will follow at Glady Creek Cemetery in Marion County.
