Lois Wade

Lois Keith Wade, 91, of Fairmont, passed away Monday afternoon (Dec. 9, 2013), in her residence.

She was born Sept. 6, 1922, in Harrisville, daughter of the late Dr. Todd and Della Hulderman Keith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. “Jack” Wade, who died in 1991.

Mrs. Wade was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. She was a 1944 journalism graduate of West Virginia University, being active with the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and the school newspaper. She also was active as a band sponsor. Mrs. Wade was employed at Eastman Kodak and Monongahela Power Co. Mrs. Wade was also an owner-operator of Adams Office Supply with her husband Jack, where she had more than 60 years of service.

She was a member of the Junior League of Fairmont, the Fairmont Field Club and a Fairmont General Hospital volunteer. Mrs. Wade was a past president of the West Virginia State Chapter of P.E.O. Sisterhood and was past president and charter member of P.E.O. Chapter R. She belonged to “Friends of the Marion County Library,” being a board member. She was also active with the “Chat Book Club.”

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Dr. J. Keith and Kathy Wade of Fairmont, and Kim and Patty Wade of Fairmont; a daughter and her husband, Kathy and Eddie Snider of Fairmont; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Charlie and Auvid Wade of Madison, Wis., Christopher Wade and his friend Jamie Jacobs of Morgantown, John Wade and his fiancée Christy Harrell of Morehead, N.C., Nathan and Ashley Snider of Charleston, S.C., Kristen and Dennis Darke of Terre Haute, Ind., Adam Wade and friend Kelly Bass of New Orleans, La., and Daniel Wade of Fairmont; and one great-grandchild, Henry James Darke of Terre Haute, Ind.

She also was preceded in death by a sister, Lucile Van Valey.

Mrs. Wade has chosen cremation services. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. today at Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont. Visitation will continue from 6-7 p.m. Friday in Grace Lutheran Church, Fairmont. A memorial service will follow in the church at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Matt Holbert officiating. Burial of the cremains in Charles Town will follow at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 300 Gaston Ave., Fairmont, WV 26554; or to the P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education, P.E.O. Executive Office, 3700 Grand Ave., Des Moines, IA 50312-2899.

The Wade family also wishes to thank several caregivers for their many hours of concern, including Ashley Gill, Jamie Kyer, Cory Frasco, Caitlin Keenan and Wanda Keener. The family would also like to thank Hospice Care Corp. of Fairmont.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
