Betty Jean Tackish

Betty Jean Tackish, 85, of Fairmont, Bellview community, passed suddenly from this life Friday (Dec. 6, 2013), at Ruby Memorial Hospital, following a stroke.

She was born in Philippi on Nov. 22, 1928, the only daughter of the late Jared Posten and Ida Bell Lantz Posten LaRue.

Betty was primarily a homemaker but had worked in the shipping and packing department at Westinghouse, was a waitress at the Palace Restaurant and was a waitress at the Poky Dot for over 20 years. At one time she had owned and operated Betty’s Restaurant.

She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and supported the DAV. She enjoyed doing embroidery and cross stitch, reading and especially enjoyed cooking for her family, always making sure everyone had a full belly.

Mrs. Tackish is survived by six grandchildren, James Louis Tackish of Fairmont, James Joshua Hardesty of Grant Town, Tara Leah Hardesty Ford and her husband Josh of Fairmont, Paul Takacs and wife Ginger of Grant Town, Beth Robinson and husband Duane of Ohio, and Jared Scott Tackish of Fairmont; six great-grandchildren, Riley and Kiley Ford, Kinsey Hardesty, Andrew Miller, CJ and Paige; niece, Ruthie Bagwell and husband Ronny of Fairmont; great-niece, Janette Williams Parker of Rivesville; great-nephew, Bill Williams of Fairmont; and several great-great-nieces and -nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Tackish; both of her sons, Louis Paul Takacs and James M. “Jimmy T.” Tackish; her brother, Henry Marvin Posten; and one niece, Jean Takacs.

Betty had chosen direct cremation with no visitation or services as her method of disposition.
