— Jimmy Sam Succurro, 87, of Rosemont, passed away on Tuesday (Nov. 12, 2013) in the West Virginia Nursing Facility.

He was born Nov. 6, 1926, in Grafton, a son of the late Luigi Succurro and Anastacia Siserina Gerard Succurro.

He is survived by two daughters, Shirley Skaggs and her husband John H. of Charleston, and Joyce Emerson and her husband John of Clarksburg; four grandchildren, Christopher Skaggs, John L. Skaggs, Marion A. Emerson and Hunter L. Emerson; his aunts, Nancy Fay Wolfe of Annapolis, Md., Katy Gerard and Clara Gerard, both of Grafton; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Angela Succurro Humphreys.

Mr. Succurro was a Master Mariner with a Masters Pilot license from Naval War College, serving during World War II and the Korean War. He was a one-star Commodore in the Naval Reserves, and was an active member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was self-employed, unloading barges on the Monongahela River.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, where the Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. to conclude the visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at All Saints Catholic Church with Father Deyre Azcuna as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
