Pastor Mary Magdalene Collins, 73, of Boothsville, passed from this life Wednesday (Nov. 4, 2013), in the home of her daughter, under Peoples Hospice, after a valiant battle with leukemia.
She was born in Harrison County, on Jan. 8, 1940, a daughter of the late Harry E. and Anna M. Riggs.
She was a graduate of Bristol High School, and attended art school and Bible College. She served as a Christian teacher and pastor. She formerly worked as a billboard painter, and most recently was the purchasing agent at the Marion Health Care Hospital. She enjoyed painting with oil, Bible study and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Collins is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Pastor Jacob Collins; her daughter, Tina Marie Minnick of Salem; six grandchildren, Daisy, Trevor and Travis Minnick, and Danielle, Heather and Zachary Davis; two great-grandchildren, Haden Davis and Gemma Newlon; and also her feline friend, Princess.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry Davis; two brothers, Thomas E. and James Ray Riggs; and two sisters, Betty Riggs and Ruby Riggs Webb.
Friends may call at the Frey Home For Funerals (Historic Chapel), 320 Madison St., Fairmont, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jerry Fiscus officiating. Interment will follow at the Marshville Baptist Church cemetery.
