Susan Harr

Susan Louise (Mullenax) Harr, 63, of the Bunner Ridge community, went to be with the Lord Thursday (Dec. 5, 2013), at her home.

She was born to Charles Junior and Helen Rose Mullenax on July 4, 1950, in Farmington. On May 15, 1971, Susan married her loving husband, Gary Lee Harr, with whom she had two children, Brian and Bradley.

She is survived by her loving husband Gary, of 42 years; her sons, Brian and Brad, and Brad’s wife, Chrissy; six grandchildren, Caden, Gavin, Chase, Landon and Andrew Harr, and Courtney Clark; sisters, Janice Whinnie and Donna Kuhn; brother, Roger Mullenax; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother and father in-law, Bob and Doris Harr; her brother-in-law, Danny K. Kuhn; and a niece, Jennifer Lynn Mullenax.

Sue was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, always placing others ahead of herself. Her quiet grace will always be remembered with fondness by all who knew her. She was an avid reader, loved to cook, and enjoyed camping with her family. As their sons were growing up, Gary and Sue spent countless summers boating and camping on the river, and later enjoyed a campsite at Big Bear Lake for many years.

Sue was a faithful member of the Mt. Nebo Church of Christ. Gary and Sue operated the East Side Garage in Fairmont for 21 years. Later, she worked at Elder-Beerman, and in the last five years she and Gary enjoyed retirement and baby-sitting their grandchildren together. She often remarked how thankful she was to have the opportunity to enjoy those precious moments with them.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the countless church members, neighbors and friends that showed them kindness during the last months of her life. The countless meals, visits and other gestures of kindness will always be remembered with thankful hearts. They would also like to thank the caregivers at Ruby Memorial Hospital, MVA Home Health and Hospice for the kind and compassionate care given during this time.

At Sue’s request, her body has been donated to West Virginia University Human Gift Registry. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Monday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m., at the Oakwood Road Church of Christ in Fairmont. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to the Bunner Ridge Park Association at 205 North Bunner Ridge Road, Fairmont, WV 26554.
