Barbara Jean (Garrison) Nay, 83, of Fairmont. passed away Monday (Oct. 14, 2013) at Mapleshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Morgantown.
She was born in Marion County, on June 5, 1930, a daughter of the late Harley and Bertha Mae (Swisher) Garrison.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Claude Nay Jr. in 2007.
Barbara worked as a clerk for Fashion Bug and Thrift Drug Store. In her earlier years, she also worked for Westinghouse. She was a graduate of Rivesville High School and Methodist by faith. She enjoyed gardening, listening to country music and traveling, especially to Nashville and the beach.
She is survived by her son, Douglas Randall Nay and his wife Margaret of Aliquippa, Pa.; her daughter, Rhonda Falkenstein and her companion Richard Bunner of Fairmont; and her grandson, Eric Shawn Falkenstein of Arthurdale.
Also surviving is a sister, Betty Powell of Morgantown; a brother-in-law, Thomas Nay and his wife Melba; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille Campbell, Thelma Runion and Dorothy Preston; a brother-in-law, George Powell; and also three nephews.
Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Jim Zinn officiating. Interment will follow at West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown, where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
