Harry Alasky

Harry E. Alasky, 87, of Barrackville, went to his new home in heaven Sunday (Oct. 20, 2013).

Harry was born in Farmington on May 28, 1926, a son of the late Pete and Julia Alasky. He worked in the service station business until moving to Fort Lauderdale in 1960. He and his wife continued working in the service station business until 1967 when he became a stock broker. After living in Florida for 23 years, he retired and moved back to Barrackville in 1983. Harry was a graduate of Farmington High School, was a member of Green Hills Country Club for many years and attended Trinity Assembly of God.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Dottie Alasky, with whom he made his home; two grandchildren, Laura (Jason) LaPointe and Dylan Alasky; a great-grandson, Elijah LaPointe; a step-great-granddaughter, Madison Yanna; two brothers and their wives, Robert and JoAnn Alasky and Pete and Violet Alasky; a brother-in-law, Dan Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Marjorie “Lou” Criss Alasky; a sister, Louise Shappek; a brother, Philip Edward Alasky; two sisters-in-law, Genevieve Thomas and Maxine and Charles Wolfe; and a step-grandson, Samuel Thomas Yanna III.

The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, from 1-9 p.m. Wednesday and from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Thursday with Pastor Skip Vincent officiating. A graveside service will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Farmington.
