Robert Beveridge

Robert “Bob” Eugene Beveridge, 77, of Bland, Va., passed away Sunday (Oct. 20, 2013) after a short battle with cancer.

He was born Aug. 4, 1936, in Kingwood, the son of the late Richard G. and Eleanor McGinnis Beveridge.

Bob was raised in Fairmont, then moved to Niles, Ohio, in 1953. He graduated from Niles McKinley in 1954. Bob was a U.S. Air Force veteran and attended Heritage Baptist Church in Bland, Va.

He is survived by his wife, Lou Ann Beveridge; five children, Debbie Cameron and Scott of Mineral Ridge, Ohio, Vicky Town and Joel of Niles, Ohio, Cheree Powell and Michael of Wichita Falls, Texas, Trisha Newberry and Stuart of Shawsville, Va., and Robert Chaney of Champion, Ohio; two brothers, Wendell Beveridge and Martha of Niles, Ohio, and Richard Lynn Beveridge and Kim of Lordstown, Ohio; nine grandsons, one granddaughter and three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bland Heritage Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society. Memorial donations may also be made to the American Cancer Society or Fleming Presbyterian Church, Fairmont.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
