Zela P. “Winky” (Godfrey) Wilson, 85, of Baxter, passed away Friday (Nov. 01, 2013) at the home of her son.
She was born in Sutton on Oct. 15, 1928, a daughter of the late George S. and Ione G. (Hyer) Godfrey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Corney” Wilson, in October of 1996. The couple married on March 27, 1948.
Zela was a loving homemaker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. In her earlier years, she worked at Owens-Illinois Glass Plant for 33 years. She was a 1947 graduate of Morgantown High School. She belonged to the Fairmont Christian Assembly in Bellview. She enjoyed drawing and making quilts with the ladies from the church.
She is survived by three daughters, Pam Jarvis and her husband Mike of Fairmont, Stephanie Wilson and her companion Dick Martin of Baxter, and Audrey Jones and her husband Mike of Baxter; two sons, Bobby Wilson and his wife Ginger of Plum Run, and Kevin Wilson and his companion Barb Ledsome of Baxter; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is a sister, Geneva Osbourn of Baxter; and two brothers, Elbert Godfrey and his wife Sue of Deland, Fla., and Olen Godfrey and his wife Arlene of Ravanna, Ohio.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine Godfrey; three brothers, Don Godfrey, George Godfrey Jr. and Kenneth Godfrey; and a granddaughter, Christina Holloway.

Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, on Monday from 5 pm. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from noon to 1:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. George Batten officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
