Mae Jarrett

Mae Jarrett, of Fairmont, age 85, died Saturday (Aug. 10, 2013) at United Hospital Center of Clarksburg.

Mae donated her body to the West Virginia University Medical School. A memorial service will be planned for a later date.

She was born March 6, 1928, in Garrison, Pa., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Berdine.

Mae graduated from Fairmont General Hospital School of Nursing in 1949 and successfully completed her boards to become a Registered Nurse. She practiced nursing for many years. In addition, she served as the administrator of nursing at the Wishing Well Health Center, always striving for excellence and achieved near-perfect ratings.

She is survived by her husband, Clifford Jarrett; sons, Linn and Mark Jarrett; daughter, Connie White; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert; and daughter-in-law, Vonda.

Mae loved to spend time with her family, cook and garden. In later years, she found great joy in hosting vacations for her family to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., her favorite vacation spot.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to: ALS Association, Development Department, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 250, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301 in honor of her daughter-in-law, Vonda Jarrett, who suffered from ALS.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
