Charles Wolf

Charles K. “Charlie” Wolf, 45, of Westover, formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away unexpectedly on Friday (Aug. 16, 2013) at his home.

He was born Nov. 9, 1967, in Harrisburg, Pa. son to Rudolph J. and Suzanne McIntosh Wolf of Dillsburg, Pa.

Charlie graduated from Moon Township High School and then attended West Virginia University, where he earned dual master’s degrees in ESL and special education.

Charlie was employed at East Fairmont Junior High School in Fairmont, where he was teaching in the foreign language department, but Charlie did not limit his teaching to his school students. He shared his “wisdom” with many; sometimes unsolicited, but that is what made him Charlie. He was strong in his convictions but always championed the underdog. Whether you agreed with his philosophy or not, you knew that it came from a good place.

Charlie was someone with a great big heart and an infectious smile who really wanted the best for everyone. As someone who loved to teach, Charlie would be happy to hear that so many of the comments on his passing were people expressing how much they learned from him. Charlie was a guy who could debate you on just about any topic, show you how to kayak the rapids and correct your conversational French all while keeping you up to date with the latest and greatest in the music world.

Charlie has taught much to many and we are all better for it, but what he taught best was how to be a good friend. He will truly be missed.

In addition to his parents, Charlie is survived by a brother, Rudolph “Rudy” Wolf and wife Kerry of Clinton Township, N.J.; sister, Amy Burke and husband John of Reston, Va.; and his faithful canine companion, Scout. Also surviving are his nieces and nephew, Kala Burke, Shannon Burke, Maura Burke, Brian Wolf, Allison Wolf and Jessica Wolf.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Charlie McIntosh, Gertrude McIntosh, Rudolph Wolf and Marion Wolf; and beloved uncles, Bob Wolf and Jim McIntosh.

Honoring Charlie’s wishes, cremation was provided by the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home.

One of Charlie’s favorite places to visit with friends in the Morgantown area was 1•2•3 Pleasant Street. To celebrate and remember his life, friends will be received at 1•2•3 Pleasant Street, Morgantown, at 2 p.m. Saturday.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
