Ruby Hunter

Ruby Lee Hunter, of Fairview, passed away Friday (Aug. 23, 2013), at St. Barbara’s Nursing Home in Monongah.

She was born Dec. 12, 1917, in Fairview, the daughter of the late Eard and Lelia Davis.

Ruby was married for 43 years to Delmar Lloyd Hunter, who passed away Nov. 1, 1978.

Ruby is survived by her two daughters, Connie Tilko of San Diego, and Linda Delligatti and her husband Skip of Fairmont. Also surviving are grandchildren, John (Skeeter) Delligatti and Mark Delligatti of Fairmont, Susan Hunter Ice of Grant Town, and Jay Tilko and Holly Ireland of San Diego. She was blessed with 11 great-grandchildren and was special to all of them; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Lloyd Hunter, his wife JoAnn and their two infant sons; her son-in-law, John Tilko Jr.; grandson, Hunter Lee Tilko; and granddaughter, Shelly Delligatti Summers, who recently passed away and was close to her grandmother. Also she was preceded in death by her brother, Earl Davis; and her sister, Beryl Stoker.

Ruby was a dedicated outdoors woman. She looked forward to the opening of every hunting season and could be seen in her fishing gear at her favorite fishing spots. She loved working in her flowers and landscaping. She enjoyed spectator sports and was always at her grandsons’ football games and wrestling matches and looked forward to WVU football and basketball games. She enjoyed reading, discussing politics and her hunting and fishing adventures.

In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, there will be no memorial service. A private graveside service will be observed at a later date.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice Care Inc., Morgantown Office, 3363 University Ave., Morgantown, WV 26505; or Food For Thought (St. Elizabeth Guild, St. Anthony Catholic Church), 1660 Mary Lou Retton Drive, Fairmont, WV 26554.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
