Melverta Mae King, 73, of No. 9 Community, Farmington, passed away Monday (Sept. 2, 2013) at Fairmont General Hospital.
She was born Sept. 10, 1939, in Harrison County, a daughter of the late James R. and Glory Bowman O’Dell.
Melverta was a homemaker. She also enjoyed watching her soaps and the cooking channel. She enjoyed listening to country music and was also an avid Mountaineer, NASCAR, WWE and Steelers fan.
Survivors include her children, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd O’Dell, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd O’Dell, Mr. and Mrs. Russell King, Verna Mineard, Mr. and Mrs. Robert King, Robin King McAtee, Sharon Manning and husband David, Darla Myers and husband Donald, Charles King, Carter King, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin McAtee and William McAtee; brothers, Forrest O’Dell, Harold O’Dell, Charles O’Dell, Carter “Odie” O’Dell and Patrick O’Dell; sisters, Madeline Blake and husband Richard, and Gloria Harris; a very special niece she held in her heart and unconditionally dearly loved, Very Drexel Harris; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Issac O’Dell and James R. O’Dell; a half-brother, James Earl O’Dell; and two grandsons, Myles O’Dell and Charles Chester King.
Friends may call at Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington from 2-9 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Chad Hutson officiating. Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery at Wyatt.
