Alfred Lemley

Alfred Jolly Lemley, 79, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Wednesday (July 10, 2013) at his residence surrounded by his family.

Born May     9, 1934, in Fairmont, he was the son of the late Frederick Leigh and Effie Mapel Lemley. Mr. Lemley was a native of Fairmont, having retired to Mooresville, N.C., in June 2004.

He was a member of Berea Baptist Church. He enjoyed reading, fishing, traveling, classical music and the practice of law. He was a former member of the Rotary and Elks Club and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Mr. Lemley was a partner and practiced law for over 45 years with Furbee, Amos, Webb and Critchfield. He practiced for a period of time with the firm Tharp,  Liotta and Yokum.

His professional memberships include the American Bar Association, West Virginia State Bar, West Virginia State Bar Association, Marion County Bar Association, Fellow American College of Trial Lawyers and Permanent Delegate, Fourth Judicial Circuit Conference.

Those most precious to him were his wife, children and grandchildren.

Mr. Lemley was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Leigh Lemley.

He is survived by his wife, Carolann Lintner Lemley; children, Alfred Jay Lemley and wife Deborah of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Eric Leigh Lemley and wife Tammy of Laytonsville, Md., Randall Scott Lemley and wife Suellen of Fairmont, and Lisa Ann Lemley Webber and husband Michael of Hickory, N.C.; and grandchildren, Chelsea, Alyshia, Logan, Hanna, Olivia, Sarah, Rachel, Jackson, Peter and Tate.

A reception will be held from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at Berea Baptist Church of Mooresville, N.C., with the service following at 2 p.m., Rev. David Burgess officiating. The family will travel to Fairmont, where the Marion County Bar Association will conduct a memorial for family and friends on Tuesday at 2 p.m., Division II Courtroom, third floor of the courthouse. A reception will follow at the Fairmont Field Club from 4-6:30 p.m. A private burial will be held at Wadestown Cemetery.
