Clora Starkey

Clora Bell Starkey, 79, of Fairmont, passed away Monday (Dec. 24, 2012) at Ruby Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Sept. 21, 1933 in Braxton County, daughter of the late Stanley Hutchinson and Edna Linger Hutchinson Payne.

Clora Bell enjoyed camping and spending time with her family and friends. She worked at Hartley’s Department Store and later at Westinghouse Electric Co.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert B. Starkey; her sister, Sharon Payne Gillespie VanGilder and husband Claude VanGilder; brother-in-law, Bill Gillespie; niece, Melissa (Gillespie) Hinerman and husband William “Will” Hinerman; and several loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Eldora Hutchinson; and a brother, Everette Hutchinson.

Friends and family may call at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont, from 5-8 p.m. Friday. Her body will lie in state from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Hebron Church on Beamer & Vernon Road, just off Airport Road outside Flatwoods. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the church with Pastor Harley Mayfield and Pastor Rex Musgrove officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hebron Cemetery.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
