Jean Frisenda, 79, of Fairmont, passed away Wednesday (Jan. 9, 2013) at Fairmont General Hospital following an extended illness.
She was born in Mannington on March 30, 1933, a daughter of the late Dee and Elsie (Hayes) Holbert.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Anthony “Tony” Frisenda, in May 1995.
Jean was a loving homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In her earlier years, she was manager for Fashion Bug in Fairmont and managed the Fairmont Collection Agency. She loved children and spending time with her loving family. She also enjoyed baking cookies, making quilts, crocheting and growing roses.
She is survived by two sons, Jerry Feathers and his wife Diana of Mint Hill, N.C., and Mike Feathers and his wife Linda of Clarksburg; one daughter, Diana Drake and her husband Steven of Fairmont; nine grandchildren, Becky Frisenda, Gregory Frisenda, Eric Feathers, Kevin Feathers, Mike Feathers Jr., Thelma Jean Smith, Robert Feathers, Stephanie Drake and Bryan Drake; and seven great-grandchildren, Josephyine Feathers, Kayden Feathers, D’Anthony Feathers, Hayden Feathers, Atrina Smith, Zachariah Smith and Josiah Smith.
Also surviving are two stepsons, Douglas Frisenda and his wife Sandra of Bidgeton, N.J., and Richard Frisenda and his wife Pattsy of Shinnston; a sister, Joann Brown of Fairmont; and a brother, Kenneth Holbert of Mannington.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy; two brothers, Gerald and Walter Holbert; and a sister, Dorothy Dunlap.
Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, from 2-8 p.m. today and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Gary Steele officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
