Jimmy Lee Heagy, 68, originally from Elvaston, Ill., passed away peacefully Thursday (Jan. 17, 2013) at home in Fairmont, with loving family and friends by his side.
He was born in Keokuk, Iowa, on Oct. 28, 1944, eighth child of the late George Heagy and Marie (Poland) Heagy.
Jim worked in industry, beginning his career at Hubinger’s and continuing on to work for Armour Foods, Texize, Dow Chemical and S.C. Johnson. His projects took him across the U.S. and to Barbados, Brazil, Canada, China, England and Thailand.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Heagy of Fairmont; two sisters, Louise (Heagy) Wildrick and husband Wendell, and Shirley (Heagy) Hartwig and husband Ken; one son, Robert Heagy and his wife Lori, with granddaughter Emily; and one daughter, Marica (Heagy) Cullen and husband Mark, with granddaughter Kristin. Also surviving are stepchildren, April (Burden) Gagliano and husband Tony, with two granddaughters Evelyn and Addison; stepsons, Shane Burden and Derek Burden; and stepdaughters, Shawna (Mullins) Watts, with granddaughters Eden, Kayla and Sidney, and Sara Mullins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Dale, Merlin and Wayne Heagy; and two sisters, Norma (Heagy) Repplinger and Marie, who died in infancy.
