Goldie McMasters

Goldie Evelyn McMasters, 94, of Fairmont and formerly of Campbell’s Run, passed from this life Sunday (Nov. 17, 2013) at the Arbors of Fairmont where she had been a resident for the past 20 months.

She was born at Campbell’s Run, Metz, on Sept. 5, 1919, a daughter of the late James and Lovie Pearl Smith Gump.

Goldie was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Robert McMasters, on April 17, 1980.

She was a devoted wife, homemaker and mother who showed her love to her daughter and son-in-law in many ways. She enjoyed keeping an immaculate home and loved working word circle puzzle games and playing dominoes.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Lou Goudy and son-in-law Lee Goudy of Fairmont.

Also surviving is a sister, Wilma Dodd of Campbell’s Run, Metz.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter who died at birth; two brothers, James Gump and Howard Gump; and four sisters, Dolora Gump, Lucinda Phillips, Helen St. Clair and Iva Ice.

She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Christ United Methodist Church in Fairmont on May 11, 2004, by Pastor Jim Zinn.

Betty and Lee would like to thank the CNAs, nurses and entire staff at the Arbors for their loving care and kindness shown to Goldie during her residency there.

Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, with funeral services beginning at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Reverend Donald Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.
