Milford “Don” Jones

Milford “Don” Jones, 83, of Mannington, departed this life Friday (June 20, 2014) at his home.

Born Dec. 21, 1930, in Fairview, he is the son of the late Milford and Nellie Jones.  

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Martha Kent Jones; a daughter, Cindy (Brian) Wyatt of Simpsonville, Kentucky; daughter-in-law, Debby Jones of Daleville, Virginia; two granddaughters, Katie Jones of Daleville, Virginia, and Tabatha DeBusk and husband Dave of Chilhowie, Virginia; and two great-grandchildren, Brooke and Justin Nunley of Chilhowie, Virginia; two sisters, Betty Jean (Donley) Rinehart and Martha Ann (Wayne) Shuman of Fairview; also, sister and brother-in-law (and best friend) Mary and George Torman of Mannington; and several nieces and nephews.  

He is proceeded in death by his son, Michael.

Don graduated from  Fairview High School in 1948, and served as a corporal in the United States Marine Corp from 1951 to 1954.

He retired from Consolidated Coal Co. in 1994 as an electrician, after 48 years of service. During that time period, he worked at Grant Town, Robinson Run and Loveridge mines and at the Central Shop in Monongah.

He has also worked as an electrician for the past 20 years at D & G Machine in Mannington. He served as a member of the Mannington Fire Department for many years and as a member of the American Legion for 38 years.   

He was a member of the Mannington Church of Christ and was a current member of the Mannington Industrial Corporation. In addition to his work, Don also enjoyed golfing, gardening, hunting, fishing and woodcarving.

Don was a generous person who was always available to lend a helping hand to any and everyone that needed assistance.   

Friends may call at the Hutson Funeral Home, 500 E. Main St., Mannington, today from 3-8 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Monday at 1:30 p.m. with Evangelist Mike Reese and Pastor Jerry Bush officiating. Interment will be in the Wadestown Cemetery.

Sam was born on Nov. 13, 1920, in Fairmont, the son of the late Vincent and Maria (Galiano) Pellerite. He was the loving husband of the late Teresa Mae “Terry” (Cirillo) Pellerite.
