Richard Bogart

Richard Lee “Dick” Bogart, Sr., 66, of Fairmont, (Monumental Community), and formerly of Largo, Fla., passed quietly from this life in his home, Wednesday, (April 22, 2009), after a long illness.

He was born in Afton, N.Y., on Nov. 16, 1942, a son of Evelyn Bogart Johnson of Afton, N.Y.

Richard relocated to this area four years ago and worked as an construction supervisor for the J & J Drywall Co. He attended the Monumental United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a paratrooper and was stationed in Germany. He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Moose. He was a history buff, enjoyed fishing and working Sudoku puzzles.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Bogart is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda Barr Bogart; two sons and daughters-in-law. Richard L. Bogart, Jr. and his wife Denise of Fairmont and James D. and Amy Bogart of Fairmont; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Carol and Paul Westfall and Jon Costello of Harpersville, N.Y., and Gayle Johnson of Afton, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Cristy, Leigha, Nicole and Samantha Bogart and Robert Murphy; also one great-granddaughter Kylee Bogart.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Don Wilmarth; one sister, Brenda Costello and his step-father Murray Johnson, who helped raise him from the age of four years.
