Player of the Week, Jan. 27: Erica Bowles

FAIRMONT — Since day one, freshman guard Erica Bowles has been providing an added spark for the Fairmont Senior Lady Polar Bears’ basketball team.

This week was no different as the 5-foot-6 guard led her squad to a victory once again.

Despite having a short week with cancellations and postponed games due to winter weather, Bowles was voted this week’s player of the week.

Bowles helped lead the Polar Bears to a win over Elkins on Saturday, Jan. 17, recording a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Fairmont Senior coach Corey Hines has said time and again that Bowles gives the team extra spirit when she comes onto the floor, helping his team to an 11-1 record and a perfect 8-0 in the Big 10 Conference.

For her efforts, Bowles is this week’s Times West Virginian high school player of the week.
