North Marion girls bounce back with blowout over Weir

North Marion’s girls’ varsity team bounced back after dropping their last game with an 84-24 win over Weir Saturday.

The Lady Huskies, who lost Thursday night to Fairmont Senior, put together a complete game in the blowout coach Mike Parrish said.

“They came out and played good,” said Parrish. “They moved good and had good shots. They really played relaxed.”

The girls had four girls in double figures in the win.

Megan Haller led North Marion with 15 points.

Anna Marie Moscufo scored 13, Cara Egress added 12 and Christa Tobin scored 10.

Mackensy Hess scored seven points to go with her four assists and four steals, putting together a solid effort.

Brittany Sigley added nine points, Taylor Wells and Noca Singleton each grabbed nine rebounds and Pressly Tuttle hauled in six rebounds.

North Marion moves to 3-1 with the win.

They’ll play next on Dec. 17 when they host East Fairmont.

East wrestling goes 2-3

at John Marshall duals


East Fairmont’s wrestling team went 2-3 on Saturday at the John Marshall duals at John Marshall High School.

The Bees picked up a 72-12 win over Marretta, Oh. and a 45-38 win over host John Marshall.

The three losses came against Winfield (38-35), Oak Glen (39-31) and Calhoun (40-34).

East Fairmont, though, had four wrestlers win all of their matches.

Hayden Stewart went 5-0 at the 152-pound weight class, Matt Hopwood went 5-0 at the 160-pound weight class, Daniel Hopkins went 5-0 at the 182-pound weight class and Brendan Sayre went 2-0 at the 138-pound weight class.

Gianni Vandetta went 4-1 at the 113-pound weight class, Brody Nesselrotte went 4-1 at the 132-pound weight class, Dalton Michael went 4-1 at the 145-pound weight class and Cam Stewart went 3-2 at the 170-pound weight class.

Teague Seccuro and Billy Johnson each picked up two wins on the day and Trent Fleming, Zac Moffat, Aric Hayhurst, Shaun Wiley and Dalton Russell won one match.

East Fairmont is back on the mat on Dec. 21 when they travel to Greenbrier West for the Greenbrier West Duals.
