East, North earn dominant softball victories: PHOTOS

FAIRMONT — Tori Postlewait tossed a 2-hitter, as East Fairmont easily defeated Robert C. Byrd 9-0 in a 5-inning mercy-rule victory.

In addition to her strong performance on the mound, Postlewait added an RBI double at the plate. Hannah Ferrel had two hits, including a triple. Sydney Postlewait and Brooklyn Nuzum also had two hits, and Bailey Frederick tacked on one.

The victory helped the Bees improve to 5-5 on the season.

Just up the road in Grafton, North Marion turned in what was perhaps an even more dominant performance.

Chelsi Latocha threw two innings and Paige Efaw tossed one to no-hit Grafton en route to an 11-0 mercy-rule victory.

Amanda Sigley went 2-for-3 with a triple and double and four RBI. Taylor Wells was 2-for-3 with a double and RBI. Latocha was a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate. Efaw added a double and Chey Steen and Shelby King also added hits.

The victory improved the Huskies’ record to 5-0. They travel to Preston County today.
