Fairmont Senior’s star basketball player Travon Horton is having a season to remember for the Polar Bears.
After receiving votes from both the coaches and the media last year, Horton earned recognition on the Class AAA All-State second team.
While averaging 14 points per game and nearly seven rebounds a year ago, Horton decided to elevate his game even more.
Before this season, which is Horton’s final hurrah with the Polar Bears since he’s a senior, he spent some quality time in the gym.
“I think he’s a tremendous worker,” FSHS coach David Retton stated. “He’s a guy who has put quality time in, and he’s put a lot of dedication into what he is doing. People can say, ‘Oh, the kid’s very talented.’ ... He does have talent, there’s no question, but I don’t care if it’s Travon Horton or any kid that you would have. You can have talent, but if you’re not willing to put the work in, then the talent isn’t going be used.
