Bears’ Summers makes 2nd team

FAIRMONT — All in all, Fairmont Senior defensive lineman Andrew Summers had quite the junior season.

He had 99 tackles. He chipped in five sacks. And he was a main reason the Polar Bears won three of four to close the season.

And now, he’s added an exclamation point to his year, as Summers was named to Class AA all-state football second team by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association.

The 6-3, 270-pounder was the lone Marion County player to make the all-state first or second team.

East Fairmont running back/linebacker Luke Hrapchak was named special honorable mention, as was North Marion wide receiver/defensive back Chase Banker and Fairmont Senior lineman Vincent Delligatti.

Bees’ lineman Logan Bowman earned a spot on the honorable mention.
