Being a young baseball player, you’re not only trying to win state championships, but you’re also trying to create a legacy that will result in a college scholarship.
These athletes play for the love of the game and their names on the front of their jerseys — Fairmont Senior, North Marion and East Fairmont. Though the names represent what school these athletes attend, that doesn’t show who they truly are. That’s when numbers come in effect.
Three area standouts that put their last names on the map during the 2013 spring baseball season are Fairmont Senior’s Gage Hannah, East Fairmont’s Truman Weese and North Marion’s Travis Smith. All three are juniors, all three helped guide their team as leaders and all three are potential threats for first-team Class AA all-state recognition next season.
