It’s not yet July, weeks until the pads go on and long before the opening kickoff.
But already you can hear the murmurs.
As shirtless receivers dash downfield during offseason workouts, not quite out of earshot from the clanging of weights in the gym, there are whispers — talk of a game-changing player, a rare talent who could swing the momentum for East Fairmont not just this season but for years to come.
The Bees have a secret.
You can hear the buzz when the wide outs scurry back to the huddle, distracted by the player. Did you see that one? Look at the distance.
By now much of the team is watching.
The kicker takes his approach. His powerful right foot swings fiercely through the air and slams into the football with a thud, sending the pigskin whistling through the air.
This kicker — the one East Fairmont players are calling their “secret weapon” — is Colin Harvath. And he’s ready to turn field position, and some heads, this season.
