Throughout its girls’ lacrosse history — from the very beginning to the current run of five straight WVSLA state titles — Fairmont Senior has never lacked offense.
“We’re a good offensive team, and we’ve always been a goal-scoring team,” Fairmont Senior coach Jon Cain said. “And we have a number of girls who can put the ball in the back of the net. It’s just that this group is very young compared to last year.”
But that collective youth hasn’t stopped the Polar Bears, and certainly didn’t on Wednesday night, as the squad hit a season-high in goals en route to a 20-11 victory over Buckhannon-Upshur at East-West Stadium.
“The offense is starting to click a bit,” Cain said.
You can say that again.
