Let the festivities begin.
Saturday afternoon officially kicked off Fairmont Little League’s season, with opening day ceremonies held at Mary Lou Retton Park.
Parents, athletes and coaches had the opportunity of walking on the beautiful green grass at the area baseball facility, while also getting their team’s name called from the press box.
“I think it means a lot for them to get to go out there and see their parents, grandparents, neighbors and loved ones in the stands,” Fairmont Little League president Stuart Earls said following the event. “Having the kids go out and waive hello and listen to everyone clap for them and cheer for them. ... I think they enjoy it a lot.”
