East enters season with high expectations

FAIRMONT — Keep a strong head position, neutralize your opponent and just get it done.

East Fairmont’s wrestling squad paced its way through its competition last season while notching seventh place in the Class AAA state tournament.

This season, the Bees are filled with premier wrestlers who are more than worthy of earning the team’s first team state championship in the sport since 1934.

“We had a real good run at it in 2007 — we were runner up in Class AAA,” said East’s head coach John Geary. “We placed 10 guys that year. With everybody returning, we should make a run.”

Five returners placed in the state tournament.
