Since taking over as coach six years ago, Chris Freeman has worked to build up the North Marion boys’ basketball program, and last season it paid off when Freeman cliched his first winning record.
“It was the first winning season in something like eight years,” said Freeman, who played at North in his high school days and went on to a successful college career at Fairmont State. “It’s definitely the first since I took over and I think we had the fourth or fifth best (record in school history).”
North finished 16-7 last season, falling to East Fairmont in the sectional tournament. And the Huskies are looking to build, day by day, on that success.
Like most coaches, Freeman doesn’t like to talk much about wins and losses, instead taking a “one game at a time” approach to success. And like most, he’s a coach who doesn’t see basketball as being confined to just the winter months.
