Ryan Elliott’s mission to finish his senior season the same way he did his junior season on the wrestling mat is all systems go after this weekend’s dual tournament at East Fairmont.
Elliott, a senior wrestling in the 120-pound weight class, remains perfect on the season after a strong showing that included 20 teams total at the tournament.
The first day of competition began early Friday morning for Elliott and the Huskies, as well as the other two Marion County teams.
Elliott wasted no time in displaying his dominance on the mat, picking up a perfect 5-0 record on the day to go into the second leg of competition Saturday.
Saturday proved to bring the same results for the 120-pounder as he again went 5-0, leading to a spotless 10-0 mark for the weekend.
With his dominant display, North Marion finished second in the entire tournament after edging out East Fairmont, 45-30, in the night’s final slew of matches.
Overall, the Huskies finished 9-1 as a team, losing only to eventual winner Independence.
For Elliott’s strong showing, he is this week’s Times West Virginian high school player of the week.
