North Marion falls to Bridgeport, 69-59

Times West Virginian

— North Marion dropped its fifth straight game Friday, falling to Bridgeport, 69-59.

The Huskies (3-5, 2-1 Big 10) had seven turnovers to put themselves in an early hole. They went into the half down, 41-29.

But the team showed resiliency and fought back, cutting the score to 55-51 about half way through the fourth. However, they weren’t able to close it out down the stretch.

Chase Banker led the way for the Huskies with 18 points. Matt Martin scored 11, Cole Richards put up nine, Cody Opron had eight and Chandler Cutrone pitched in six.

The Huskies will look to right the ship Wednesday when they host Liberty (Harrison).

“It was a tough loss because I thought the kids played with effort and emotion. It hurts a little more when you play that way because you know you gave your best effort,” North Marion coach Chris Freeman said. “The good thing about January is you don't have much time to think about your losses. We’ve got three important games coming up next week.”
