MORGANTOWN — Dark gray rain clouds loomed ominously over Hawley Field Wednesday afternoon and for a while it looked like a storm would affect the first round of the West Virginia Legion baseball state tournament.

Fairmont advances in the winner’s bracket and will play tonight at 7 p.m. at Hawley Field against the winner of Wednesday night’s South Charleston/ Morgantown game.

“It’s a good way start off the tournament,” said second baseman Chris Petrucci. “It says we’re here for business. And we are.”
