Bees softball bounces back: PHOTOS

PLEASANT VALLEY — The East Fairmont softball team bounced back from Thursday night’s loss to North Marion with a 7-3 victory over Bridgeport at East Fairmont High School on Friday.

“It was nice to come back the day after (the loss) and play as well as we did,” said East Fairmont coach John Postlewait. “We were solid defensively. Hannah (Ferrell), Mikayla (Moore) and Cassidy Toothman all made excellent diving plays. It was a really good team win.”

Starting pitcher Tori Postlewait allowed eight hits, struck out four, walked two and allowed three runs (two earned) in seven innings to earn the victory. She also added a double.

Sydney Postlewait hit a solo home run, Mikayla Moore had an RBI hit, Olivia Conaway was 1-for-2 with an RBI, Leeanna Downey singled and scored. Brooklynn Nuzum hit an RBI single and scored as well.

After Bridgeport took an early 1-0 lead, the Bees responded with three runs in the third inning.

The Indians responded in the following frame to tie it at three.

But in the sixth inning, Sydney Postlewait led off with a home run and the Bees strung several hits together to push the score to 7-3.

The Bees return to action with a doubleheader today at Braxton County.
